The sandy beaches, washed by the clear waters of Lake Erie, provide visitors with the only surf swimming within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
The guarded beaches are open from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day unless otherwise posted.
Beach houses are located at Beach 6, Beach 8 (Pettinato Beach), Beach 10 (Budny Beach) and Beach 11. The beach houses provide changing areas, restrooms, as well as food and beverage concessions. Mini-beach houses (without concessions) are located at Beach 1 and Beach 9. The other guarded beaches are located near modern restrooms.
Beach 1 to Barracks Beach provides a long stretch of sand and is near the park entrance.
Beach 2 is an unguarded, isolated beach, surrounded by natural beaches.
Beach 6 is a large beach which contains volleyball courts.
Beach 7 (Waterworks Beach) features a ramp, providing wheelchair access to the water's edge.
Beach 8 (Pettinato Beach) has wide expanses of sandy beach.
The mill road beaches incorporate swimming areas with scenic wooded picnic facilities.
Beach 9 in the Pinetree Area is another large sandy beach with picnic facilities.
Beach 10 (Budny Beach) lies between the Sunset Point area (popular with kite flyers and wind surfers) and the Gull Point Natural Area.
Beach 11 is the most sheltered beach and features shallow water and a large sandy beach.
Beach 7 (Waterworks Beach) and Beach 11 are adjacent to picnic areas, including playground equipment and pavilions. Lifeguard headquarters can be reached at (814) 833-0526.
