1716 First Lighthouse in the US constructed in Boston, MA
1841
First Fresnel lens in the US installed in New Jersey
1864 US Lighthouse Service adopted the distinctive lighthouse flag
1870
Presque Isle Lighthouse commissioned to replace the Erie Land Lighthouse 
1872
Construction of Presque Isle Lighthouse began in September
1873
Presque Isle Lighthouse put into service on July 12
1873 Barn constructed near the south west corner of the light station
1882
Fresnel lens installed in the tower with flashing red and white signal
1886
400 linear foot wooden jetty constructed to stop the sand erosion in the front of the light station
1889
US Lighthouse Service created by Congress 
1892
Boathouse moved near the end of the “old plank walk” in Misery Bay
1892
Roof replaced on the light station
1894
“Tight board fence” built to surround the light station
1895
“Old plank walk” repaired with 14,400 feet of white pine lumber (Distance of one and half miles from the boathouse to the light station)

Additional 17 feet 4 inches added to Presque Isle Lighthouse tower
1898 Oil Shed constructed near the north east corner of the light station
1899 Fog Signal House approved for construction

Color of the tower changed from red to white painted brick so it would stand out as a “day mark” for ships and vessels on Lake Erie

Andrew Shaw Jr. appointed keeper at Presque Isle Lighthouse on June 1
1906 The “old plank walk” rebuilt from the light station to the boathouse
1921 Presque Isle established as a State Park
1924 Electricity installed at the light station
1925
The “old plank walk” from the light station to the boathouse replaced with concrete
1927
Andrew Shaw Jr. retired as keeper on August 30 because the road opened on the peninsula and brought too many visitors
1927 Frank Huntington appointed keeper of Presque Isle Lighthouse till 1944
1949 Light in the tower of the light station automated by the Coast Guard
1957 Indoor plumbing installed by the resident in the light station
1962
Fourth order Fresnel lens removed from the Lighthouse tower
1962 Barn on the south west corner of the light station torn down and lumber sold by resident
1973
Wash house off the west side of the light station torn down by the resident
1983
Lighthouse entered in National Register of Historic Places 
1989
Addition added to the front of the main residence of the light station
1989 Fifty-five rubble mound break waters installed along the shoreline to prevent beach erosion
1990 Addition added to the back of the main residence of the light station
1991 Jetty removed near the shore of the light station to install break waters
1998 Lighthouse deeded to Department Conservation and Natural Resources from the Administrator of General Services for the United States of America
2007
Historic Structures Report completed for the Presque Isle Lighthouse
