GREAT FUN! What an amazing weekend! Discover Presque Isle 2008 was a tremendous success bringing in more than 110,000 visitors and raising $130,000 for We would like to thank our Sponsors and over 250 volunteers who made this a weekend to remember! A special thanks is also extended to the DCNR staff for their hard work over the weekend. Jake’s Blues kicked off the Discover Presque Isle Weekend with mind-blowing guitar riffs on beach 11. With over 100 crafters and food vendors, the Waterworks area was flooded with people of all ages.
New events such as the Family Bike Event and Discover Archery were very successful. The Mile Swim returned this year and had a great turn out. The Kayak Experience gave visitors a chance to try out the latest kayak models at The volleyball courts were hopping as teams were competed in the Smith’s Volleyball Challenge on Saturday and Sunday. Beach 8 was rockin’ with live music and an exclusive bonfire. The beach also hosted the sand sculpture competition. It was a beautiful Sunday morning for the Times News Duathlon. Over 200 athletes competed in the event.
